    Default Sharp or not?

I recently picked up a wedge. I stropped it up and gave it a go. It was rough, but in the past, I've had rough blades smooth out in a few shaves. Not so with this one. Then I noticed that it wasn't cutting all the hairs. So, it is rough (tugs a little bit) cuts most hairs, but not all.

I thought that if it was overhoned, it would miss hairs; and, if it was not sharp enough, it would pull. If so, I got the worst of both worlds.

I've recently started to try honing my own blades, and am considering giving this one a go. Part of me thinks, "hey, this isn't surgery. No one's going to die if I screw it up." The other part of me is afraid of permanently damaging the blade.

Should I give it a go or just send it to a honemeister?

    All input appreciated!

Personally I would not pick a wedge for the razor I would want to learn to hone on...

Funny, I'm in almost the same situation. Mine wasn't that rough, but it cuts not all hairs. I pretty sure mine ist not sharp enough.

You could give it a try, but as far as I know, wedges are a bit more complicated to hone.
