I would guess by (nothing else but) the artwork and the plastic box that your razor was manufactured on or about April 30, 1964.

I've had a number of 70 1/2's, 50 1/2's and others. I believe they refer to the grind but could be wrong

how long was the 50 1/2? if my theory is correct it should be about 3/4 of an inch shorter than the 70 1/2.

The model number makes sense too, "Hans! Where's my coffee!"

I do not know how long, but I shaved with that 50 1/2 that used to be mdunn's this morning!

The different models just have different shapes (note the 50 is shoulderless and 70 1/2 is not)- it's not a length thing. There is also a model 415 and it's not a sword.

I have a 70 1/2 with an old yellow box with green lettering, and it's my favorite razor. I think it's pretty old. The ones with the checkerboard on the blade and red boxes are much more recent, and I would guess 70s but don't know.

There's also usually carbon steel (not stainless) equivalent model numbers that have the same shape as their friodur cousin.
