Le Grelot II or TI New Forging ?
Since I seem to have a little extra money I was just looking at buying another razor... maybe a Le Grelot or a TI New Forging ... not sure which I should get. Anyone have both and have any preference to one or the other?

Personally, I would go with the Le Grelot. I have a Silverwing and a B&B Le Grelot and I think the Le Grelot is far superior to the TI in every respect.

I have a Le Grelot 1/4 hollow and it is awesome. The best shaver I have. Each time I shave with it, I am amazed at how smooth it works. I've never tried a TI, though, so I am afraid I cannot give you a direct comparison. However I have a Henckels Friodur 7/8, a Dorko 5/8, and Philarmonica 7/8 (the NOS one Classic was selling until a few weeks ago). All are great razors, but the Le Grelot is by far the best one.

#3 to vote Le Grelot quarter hollow over TI. While TI has some good, even great, blades the Le Grelot is flat out a superior razor in my opinion. Disclaimer: I have no experience with the Le Grelot hollow ground razors, only the quarter hollow. I also tend to prefer wedges down to half hollow blades.

Thanked: 335Here is another vote for the Le Grelot 1/4 hollow. It's a wonderful razor. I have some TIs which are also great razors, but much prefer a razor of greater "substance", or thicker grind, rather than the full hollows which to me sound too much like steel wheels rolling over cobblestones. And I'm nearly deaf so I wonder what shaving with a full hollow sounds like to one who hears well. Probably not unlike the shuttle taking off.
Give me another sentence or two and I'll be totally off topic
Then again, I just bought a Wade and Butcher hollow ground which is probably about the same grind as the Le Grelot 1/4 hollow and it shaves like a dream.

I vote for a full hollow Grelot. I have a 1/4 hollow B&B Grelot, full hollow Grelots and TIs. The 1/4 hollow is the most comfortable but the full hollows edge hones up easier and yields a BBS shave easier. I recently picked up a 6/8's NOS Grelot full hollow from Edwin Jagger for under a $100 and it a fantastic shaver.

In the true spirit of RAD I vote for one of each. I like my Le Grelots but the TIs are mighty good too.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Looks like I'll probably buy the le grelot from rasurpur next month
Any other sources for the le grelots? Also anyone have experience with the shave readiness of razors from rasurpur.de ?
Thanks for all the responses

This the 6/8's Grlot that bought from E Jagger. The price is even lower than I paid in August due to a stronger dollar. It's the same razor as rasupur but much less as it's on sale at EJ.

I've just honed a Le Grelot B&B SE for a customer - what a damned good razor!
And I should be having them in stock sometime soon!
