    You are a lucky man.
By the looks of the spine, that razor was already severely damaged.
It could have snapped at any time and caused a nasty accident.
Now your wife accidentally breaks it and wants to make it up to you.

In terms of razor quality, it won;t matter which you choose.
Livi, Le Grelot, TI, ... all reputable brands.

You may want to look around in the classifieds to see if there is something you really like. Several nice deals can be had there.
    Good luck in your search.

Yeah you're better off with the replacement
What to get is really up to you - I'm partial to vintage razors but there's nothing wrong with any of the options you're considering - if you were happy with that TI, you'll be much happier with the replacement.

I agree with Bruno. Those are all great razors. When you've got choices like that you're livin' the dream my friend.

That said, there are tons of great shavers out there that I put on par with those razors. Some you can get for a steal. Most recently I shaved with a $75 Boker that wiped the hair of my face.

I would take the 300, buy a TM strop, Silver Tip brush, and 2 razors. 1, a new Dovo, and 2, a new TI, I would try to slip a Georgetown Pottery scuttle in there also. Unless you already have these things, if so, I would buy a couple of nice razors off the classifieds here, and some wonderful CF cream and aftershaves. PM me if you feel like selling those scales.

I too think those pictures are fascinating. Sorry for your loss and thanks for posting the pictures.

The rust on the interior of the SPINE I believe would indicate as someone already mentioned that the SPINE was cracked all the way through. That's what amazes me. I've seen and held several examples of exactly the opposite (hairline crack running from the edge up to and stopping at the spine).

How in blazes could someone crack the spine clean through but have the hollow stay intact until this recent fall???? Amazing.

Either a freak accident like falling just right, or someone had the habit of dinging the spine on the sink to clear off the water.

I once had a CD (ACDC) that fell out of my hands, and it hit the floor exactly the right (wrong ) way. i.e. the cd was perfectly perpendicular with the floor. It didn't flop about, but instead cracked from the hole to the outer rim, following a line that started at the perfect center of the hole.

I have since tried to repeat that several dozens of times with several old and new CDs. It never worked.
The chances of creating the right conditions are so small it's absurd.
The same thing could have happend with that razor: a million to 1 shot.
