And putting clips on them is not that good an idea, because the scales would likely deform or crack under tension or pressure in your pocket.....

.....I belive in using the right tool for the job. And straights are not it for cases like this.
man.... google the party pooper song...

Just kidding; I'll leave my CPM-D2 Leek in my pocket and my razors in my shave closet. I wouldn't want a belt clip on a razor if you offered to put one on for free and pay shipping both ways.

Most likely the news article intends that the guy had a box cutter and used that to get the woman and child out.

By the way, this is the same news channel that had Lynn on a while back. They are a pro-straight razor channel!

This kind of situation is one of the many reasons I always carry a pocket knife. You never know when you're gong to need one. A couple of months ago a friend of mine saved a toddler from drowning in the back of a partially submerged SUV.

    TA-DAA! Christmas is saved!
(should have gone with that version in the first place)

Yeah stolenmirth.... you stole the mirth out of this thread.... maybe YOU should google the party pooper song.

Ok. This thread is ruined. No one else post. Mods, please delete it. Stolenmirth has ruined it for everyone. Christmas won't be the same.

    Ruined.

(by blatant use of lots of sarcasm, I'm trying to inject a little mirth back into things. I'm totally just kidding. I take myself about as seriously as I would being attacked by cute little puppies in a field of marshmallows. No worries, stolenmirth. If there were no sad times in our lives, I doubt we would be able to savor the good times as much. The balance must be kept.)

In the 50's in the UK "Teddy Boys" (gangs kitted out in drapes (= coats) , drainpipe trousers, brothel-creeper shoes, sideburns and rock'n'roll hairstyles) used to carry cut-throats (amongst other innocuous articles like lengths of motorcycle chain). If a fight was in the offing, they would open the razor and tape the tang to the scales. Sounds pretty scary to me, Bruno!

I was going to say "shame on you, stolenmirth" but I find myself inside a glasshouse with a stone...

    Regards,
    Neil.

Most tactical folders have a thumb button for one handed operation. Following a bit of practice I can open and close mine with one hand quite easily. And they're legal.

Having experienced a KNIFE ATTACK in 1982. I still bare the scars and the nerve damage. Thank God it wasn't a Str8 razor or I wouldn't be using my left hand...

Now, I live by a different rule. I'll call your knife(or Str8 razor) and raise you my Glock.

Having been in law enforcement- I think the laws do indeed make sense: a little statement used in N J Criminal law:
Any person who has in his possession any weapon, except a firearm, under circumstances not manifestly appropriate for such lawful uses-LIKE carrying a Str8 razor on the street( not exactly appropriate as taking it off the counter in the shave den...) is subect to prosecution under the weapons statutes.

I LOVE shaving and razors. Considering their use for other purposes is, at least IMO, stupid.

Best keep a sample bottle or packet of shave cream beside it or your risking a concealed charge.
Beating the concealed charge is all about reasonable usage.
A bat in the car and your charged.
A bat a ball and glove and a pair of cleates- they got nothing.

    Thanks for the story though.

Reminds me of a handy lifesaving move from Kill Bill -Uma Thurman pulling the straight out of her boot.
I thought the kissing the scales would be a great avatar considering her moniker as the Black mamba.

That would be cool, Creel, but in the end you chose an avatar that's way more bad a$$ than Uma Thurman ever was in Kill Bill.......

If you are going to keep a straight in your pocket... make sure there is some sort of lock on it, so it doesn't swing open!
