Thje older beau brummels marked beau brummel werk are from when the brummels were sold throughout the U.S. I guess they had an exclusive with pearlduck later on. The later ones are marked beau brummel and have the same celluloid-pearl scales like the ducks and the address on the blade and box is the same as pearlduck in Jamaica, N.Y.

IMHO you can get a good shave off a 4 dollar str8 from Ebay. People want Ducks, because their "Ducks". Check out Ebay.
A rusted No 1, or goldenedge, or Satinedge, Dwarf, can go well over 200 dollars and that needs work. For 300, you can a beautiful Mastro Livi new grind razor that will shave you equally well depending on your skill level. For 100 dollars you can get a nice Dovo. Dubl Duck is a name, like BMW or Mercedes, probably the same steel that's in Solingen, Dovo, Henckels, etc...People love the Dubl Ducks and always will. They're collectable, as far as a better shave, I don't know. I'd love to see a side by side comparison. All this Duck hype is blowing the prices through the roof on Ebay and I'm not talking about a Reaper.
Restored Reapers go for 450 bucks. Agian, they're rare, so you'll pay. If your looking for a good shave, that's one thing. If your a collector, than that's another. I wouldn't spend 300 dollars on a rusted chipped, duck, then resore it, or have it restored and then use it everyday. I'd put in on display...
I think a lot of new members don't realize these ducks are old, no longer in production.Last edited by zib; 12-30-2008 at 05:58 PM.

Well, no because the beau's are a distinctly different razor than the pearlducks even though pearlduck sold them. The ducks were manufactured probably by several makers in Germany. Who knows maybe Beau made some of them. I guess the key is all the ducks are marked either Pearlduck, Bresduck or Bresnick but the beau's will never say that. The later ones will say Jamaica, N.Y but thats it.
As far as cheaper goes back in the day they all sold for a buck or two.No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero
