Got my first double arrow
Well, it have a very heavy blade. I kinda like the matte finish. The handle sucks. Mine was cracked at the butt and the pivot pin was bent. Since it's kinda crappy looking, I really didn't care as I will be replacing it.
As for the edge, it didn't pass a HHT, so I took it to my pasts. 3, 1, .5 and .25 diamond pasts had it passing a HHT. Not sure I would shave with it. I just wanted to see how close I could get it without a hone.
I will be resetting the bevel as it looks like the edge isn't perfectly straight. It's no Wapi, that's for sure, but it isn't all that bad. With a honing, the handle would suffice to get the job done. Not bad for 10 bucks indeed.

Now you have an idea of how much work I put into these things.

Thanked: 5Hi
Hi
I have a double arrow, wapi , dovo etc. My double arrow is very sharp and i shave with it regularly, it isnt a bad shave and removes the bristles no problem. The scales are very poor, but it does shave and because of its very hollow grind, its a cheap intro into singing razors.
Buy one and have a go.
Regards
London

I just saw a double arrow on Ebay, Barber's razor, from China, is that what your talking about. No one bid on it. It was going for 9.99. Are they any good?

Thanked: 3795I honed a couple of them for the first time recently and I was really PO'd both with the edge near the heel and the shoulder.
On both blades the edge near the heel had what I could best describe as a quarter inch micro-frown in the edge, as if someone slipped when they ground it and put a divot in the edge. Both razors had the identical flaw in the edge.
Also, both had a shoulder that was way too pronounced and I had to be really careful in blade placement on the hone to make sure that the shoulder did not make contact. Most shoulders don't make contact with the hone but these protruded out far enough to interfere. I think if I hone any more of them I might grind off some of that shoulder.
Has anyone else seen either of these issues?Last edited by Utopian; 01-03-2009 at 04:48 AM.

I just received two today from Stamps22. I bought them hoping they would make good starters for some interested folks at work. The shoulders definitely got in the way while honing. Other than that, they sharpened up ok and seemed very reasonable for 9.99
I shaved with one of them this eve with no complaints.

I too have the shoulder problem.
Other than that, happy with the razor.

I hone up about 20 of these a month. I don't seem be having the shoulder problem you guys are mentioning. I use a sweeping motion at the shoulder when I start the stroke. I use a microscope at each step on each razor and some do require more attention at the shoulder but as a rule they hone up all along the edge just fine, for me anyway.
