Thanked: 9Dubl Duk "round" point?
I bought my DD new about 30 years ago from a barber's supply. The box says that it is a round point but the razor is clearly what I understand to be a square point (sometimes called spike point though mine is not a true spike point). I always assumed that the razor was put into the wrong box when packaged by the manufacturer.
Today, I saw 2 razors like mine on ebay. Both were described as round points and both looked just like mine in the pictures, square pointed.
What's going on here? Did DD have their own definition of round point or did they send out a lot of square points in round point boxes?

My Goldedge is a sure enough round point by the standard definition. No idea what the box may have stated on it as it came to me used sans box. Do you have the item #s or the razors you are referring to ?

Thanked: 9It's a Goldedge but I'm not aware of any item/stock numbers. If there are any, they would be on the box as there are none on the razor. I'll check when I get home.

Thanked: 9Sorry, Jimmy. One is 280308106270 and now I can't find the other one. But the one with the number I quoted is exactly like mine but is advertised as a round point. This is not the first one I've seen advertised like this, just the first one I've inquired about to the forum.

That is a spike point in my book. I have a friend who got a 6/8 duck new in a new DD case marked 5/8. Maybe they weren't always particular about putting them in the proper box.
EDIT; Just took another look as I was thinking of bidding on that and it is up to over $300 with 9 minutes to goLast edited by JimmyHAD; 02-05-2009 at 11:23 PM.

Ebay has gone crazy, I saw a puma go for over 300 last week. If you want a Duck, Goldedge, Wonderedge, your gonna pay over 300 bucks. You might nab a dwarf or No 1 for 250 but I doubt it. What gets me is some of the blades are rusty or whatever. It's really hard to tell in pics what the actual condition of the blade might be. Always use paypal, that way, regardles of what the seller say's, you can get your money back. You have some protection. I would always recommend to a new guy to check the classifieds here first, and get a razor from a member. I might not even shave with my ducks anymore, I might just put them up......Sorry, Don't mean to hijack.....Rich
P.S. I'm at work, I have some ducks in boxes, I'll have to check when I get home....
