W&B's got some new shoes!
Well I have been working on these two scales for three days now. They are G10. That product sux to work with. I literally turned a band saw blade into a butter knife. After many abrasive cutting disks and hours of sanding and a few coats of urethaine (recommended by Floppyshoes) this is the end result. I have not yet completely restored the blades but that will be a project for next week.
I know its a lot of pictures (not sure how to reduce the size???) but I would love some input on these. Any changes that you would make and ideas, etc. Heck....Tell me if ya hate them.Im not quite sure about the blue scales. I think I will make a set of red one to replace them.

Nice!! I was actually going to say I really like the blue one. Something about rounder ends, and the slope matching the back of the blade. They're both great congrats

I don't know how much your band saw blade cost in relation to the scales but to me it looks like money well spent those are very nice. I particularly like the red scales.

wow, very nice job. has almost a snakeskin look. I know G10 comes in layers, but how do you bond the layers together to get the desired look? Is that what the urethane was for?

The effort you put into those scales really shows! Excellent Job.
I like the way the red scales echo the shape you see with a lot of those W&B blades and they also have a slight "woody" look, but both scales are very nice. You will have showpieces as well as workhorses when you're done with the blades.
PS: Nice peening on the pins.

Both look good & the blue is Kool.
Looks like you have a heel mod happening on one blade thereThe white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.
