    Default Keen Kutter razor

I know a bunch of members have Keen Kutter razors and I need some info. Are they German made or American made. Second are they good razors? I don't know a thing about them and I'm mulling over buying one. I appreciate any help you can give me:-)

I recently purchased two. One razor has the Simmons Hardware Co. Distrubutor Mfg. USA . The other razor it says Simmons Hardware Co. and has on the other side of the blade Germany. I'm assuming that the blade was made in Germany and assembly took place in the US. I may be wrong. Hopefully someone can shed some light on this. I'm interested in it too.

Thanks, this one just has the hardware markings with no reference to Germany but that doesn't mean they made the blade there and shipped it here. I just don't know:-)

Good question, I have been wondering this myself as I intend to start collecting razors made in Missouri.

To expensive. I had a Keen Kutter, good razor, shaved nice, gave something like $12 for it with the diamond Keen Kutter etched logo in the blade, in very good condition. Simmons hardware stuff pulls a premium with collectors, well above the worth of the razor as a shaver. You can get just as good or better a shaver in the classifieds for a lot less than that.

There are too many out there to pay that much for one.

Thanks for your questions about the Keen Kutter. I just received one from my grandmother (from my grandfather's collection). I was wondering many of the same things as yourselves.
However, I have a couple of other questions. Since I didn't pay for this razor, is it worth trying to hone it and use it? I have just started shaving with a SE and want to make sure this thing isn't junk before I spend to time trying to bring the edge around.
Right now it is not very sharp but it seems to be in fair condition. There are a few nicks in the edge but all in all I think it's in good shape. Any advice on this would be appreciated.
