    Default Ancient Razors

I recently met a gentleman who had bought and sold a nice little razor from the19th century. He showed me a photo of it. I've seen other razors on e-bay and here that were very old and I'm curious as to how many are still around. I'd love to see pictures from your collections. What is the oldest razor you own?

You'll find some old ones here.

Ah yes, that is indeed a great thread. There are some other old blades here http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...g-her-off.html

Contained in those two threads is my oldest razor (the faux frameback met an unfortunate end on my bathroom floor, so disregard her). I'm just not sure which is the oldest. Maybe the Savage, since she's the only one that is not presumed to be reground.

This Tally Ho is at least 150 years old. Shaves great too!

This is an oldie which from the blade profile and the shape of the scales should be circa 1790s or thereabouts. Regrettably it came to me with the chip in the edge. I have thought about taking it out but it is sizable and would change the look of the blade.

I've got two 19th century blades. One is a Reynolds George Washington Commemorative from the 1830's or so and another that is probably late 19th century.

The oldest I have is a Jackson Fremont from 1910 or so. I would love to shave with it but I don't have the necessary honing skills to make it shave ready!

I'm told my W&B is upwards of 150 years old

and that my Greaves is even older.

    They are both amazing shavers.

Your Greaves is likely no younger than 159 years old but not older than 229 years of age! My bet is that it is no older than 175
