I sent an email to the REvisor site. They responded that razors are available directly from them at the terms listed. I also checked German ebay. One Revisor is available through Germanrazors. It is described as new.
The Revisor site describes themselves as being an authentic Soligen maker.

Considering revisor which is just the brand name (I think the owner was Schmidt or something like that) went out of business many years ago they can't be the original producer. if they are selling revisor razors and claiming to be the original manufacturer probably they bought the name from the family which then begs the question where are these highly skilled razor makers coming from?

The history section of the site explains among other things they are continuing the old ways: using some available blanks, some old craftsmen and a reregistered trademark. It's worth reading before jumping to conclusions.

No conclusions here. As a watch collector I just have this thing about people who buy a defunct brand and then sell the bought heritage to make people think they were getting the real deal. As far as I'm concerned the honest way is just call the product by a new name and let the market decide if the mdse is quality or not.

Thanked: 4942I was received the contact a while back on the gentleman who goes by Germanrazors on Ebay and advised that he has bought the Revisor name and was going to be producing the razors. He advised that he wanted to protect his Ebay pricing and had found some other means of distribution. Interesting. I am not a fan of the scales on the new 8/8 Revisors I have seen on Ebay, but have always been a fan of the old and more traditional Revisor razors. They are very nice shavers.

Interesting. I think his name is Manfred. About a year or so ago he had contacted me saying he had come into a large number of straights and wanted advice on how to sell them.I told him put them up here on SRP and he said he would consider it but I never heard from him again.

NOS Revisor
I recently purchased a 4/8 Revisor from Manfred that had a slight discoloration on the blade and some amateur had tried to sand it off. I think this must be an original Revisor and I got it for a great price. The 4/8 don't seem to be very popular even though this had a nice set of scales. The razor had obviously never been honed, probably never been used. I notice Germanrazors seems to have a lot of Revisors, always advertised as NOS. He also seems to get a very high price for most of them.

It's good that the scales on the new 8/8 Revisors are so butt ugly or I would have gotten a serious RAD for one.
