Default Need a little restoration guru help here...

    Hey guys,
So I recently acquired this guy from an antique shop.
Only had one scale and is tarnished up purty bad.
Do you guys think it's worth re-doing? I'm a completely broke student with no woodworking facilities so I won't be able to make anything happen (as much as I'd love to send this off to Max, Glenn, Vladsch or any of the other amazing handymen around here).
I'm just wondering what you guys think of it.
's marked "C.F. Schwartz & Co." Hamburg-Solingen, made in Ger.
Has some nice work on the spine, "High Class" in gold etching on the blade and is 1/4 hollow is my guess.im thinking its probably a 6/8, but i could be wrong.

While I'm feeling curious about my blades...

This thing's quite a beastly looking piece. I think the scales are about as appealing as olive green shag carpeting.
It's a shame because this is a DOVO... you'd think the Germans would have thought better than to put these unsightly things on.
Aside from the small chip at the toe, everything is nice n clean (especially compared to the above blade).
I was thinking it might be worth grinding the toe off to a spike or something and fitting on new scales.
    Thoughts?

I really like the engraving on the spine of that first one. I'd certainly want to do something with it, although I just recently found myself the owner of a completely free razor that I plan on either fixing up or having fixed up. (depends how ambitious I'm feeling)

The second one doesn't really do much for me, but that being said, don't be to hard on dovo for a set of ugly scales. Once upon a time, green shag carpeting was very fashionable. lol

That first razor with the engraved spine deserves to be fully restored, that one has serious potential....

The Dovo just needs some new scales (Classic Shaving) and a bit of Flitz or MAAS.... I wouldn't go crazy with that one... it will be a nice shaver...

I actually like the Dovo scales, sort of a butterscotch Catalin/bakelite look. A bit clunky but would look great polished up with some Deco style inlays, initials perhaps. The other is great and scales are really no big deal if you have the time.

If you have the time and the patience, remove the remnants of the broken scales. Then polish it up. If it comes up nice send it off to someone to have it rescaled. I think it will come up looking fantastic.
