Okay, I went by and bought the two C-MONs today. I paid $150 for both. I will post pics when I get back home tomorrow or Friday. They look as good as I remember, almost mint. They even have just a bit of red left on the tang and the boxes look brand new. The lady I bought them from said she got them from a barber that had held on to them for many years and said they had hardly been used. Glen, I think I will send them your way to work your magic. You are the C-MON expert!
She also had a Bergfeld & Sohn Globusmen that looked like it had never been honed. It was missing the top to the box. It had a lot of gold wash but had some surface rust on the tang. I think it would have to lose the gold wash in this area, but otherwise it was mint. Any ideas what would be a good price for this one? She had it marked at $125 but I think I could get it for $90-$100.
Thanks,
Tod

Thanks for the info. I didn't know the MIG used the blond scales too. Carl Monkhouse moved to Ellicottville. NY and began producing his razors on this side of the pond at some point. I hear that they were good too. At least the older ones.
Tod, congrats on getting the two C-Mons. if it was me I would certainly offer the $100 for the Globusmen if it is in that condition and if it was at least a 6/8.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Sorry guys. I didn't get a chance to take a pic because I'm on the road. I guess I could have used my iPhone, but I didn't think of that. the C-MONs are on their way to Glen. Maybe he will be able to post a pic. If not I will post some pics when they get back home!

Originally produced by CARL MONKHOUSE, ELLICOTTVILLE, NY they have been made by Dovo for quite some time. They are still available new and the higher level C-MON Cadillac ($69.95 ea.), can be found at Bowman Beauty & Barbers Supply among other places.

Thanked: 156John, is it just me or did they really just put a C-Mon sticker over where Dovo usually goes?

Dovo has made them for so long most people who have them actually have Dovo razors. There is nothing at all wrong with a Dovo razor. Dovo made Puma razors under contract for the last 15 years new Puma razors were sold. Somehow I don't think that C-MON sticker is going to give you any more or any less of a shave than almost any other razor coming from Dovo or from Solingen for that matter.
