    Default C-MON Blackie

    I have the chance to purchase a couple of near mint C-MON Blackies with boxes. These are as close to mint as one could get without being NOS. The seller is asking $95 each or I think I could get them both for $175. Is this an excellent, fair or too high price for these razors? I understand that anythings worth is what someone is will to pay for it; however, I would like to get educated buyer's opinions on these.

    Thanks,
    Tod

    Near mint blackies have gone for more than what you are saying... take that for what it's worth

    Aside from being collectible, think of high quality current production razors of similar grind and style; they go for more than $95. If they're in as good of condition as you know or believe them to be, then I agree they would be worth at least that.

    I also assume you've seen the razors first hand and have inspected them very carefully. I've been snowed by more than one collector/dealer who has talked up razors over the phone as if they're mint; after travel and first hand inspection, if I were a violent man, the actual condition of said razors would have warranted me slapping the dealer a few times across the face. Any jury would have seen the instances I speak of as justified on my part! ;-)))

    -->Very vivid picture Chris.

    I have seen them. they are in a small antique shop in a small town I pass through occasionally. I'm fairly new to this so when I saw them I had never heard of C-MON, but they are absolutely in near mint shape. She also had a razor that I can't recall the make, that WAS NOS and she wanted $125 for it. All I can remember is that is was gorgeous. Now that I know the C-MONs are worth my time to travel back there, I'm kind of excited to see what the other razor is. I have MUCH more knowledge of different makes since the last time I was in there. I'll let you guys know what I find.

    C-MON's are good... just for your consideration, take a look at this C-MON Blackie in NOS condition. It recently sold for 150 (and it didn't even take a whole day to sell at that price). Just food for thought

    I would be all over them as a C-Mon collector....

    I have either 6 or 7 right now, and with out a doubt they are fantastic shavers....

    Price wise I have bought them for way less also but trust me my snipes were set at the $100 mark or on some of the more rare versions much much higher.....

    Speaking from the standpoint of someone who just purchased a NOS C-Mon Blackie 6/8 I would tell you that the shave is top notch! I would definately purchase another and another and .... well you get the point! If you can get a photo I'm sure a lot of folks here would be willing to disect but I really enjoy my new purchase.

    What occurs to me is that I have seen them made in Solingen with the black scales and the fancy end cap on the bottom end and I have seen them made in the USA with blond scales. The Solingen are the C-Mons that I go for although I have a friend who tells me that the USA C-Mons are good shavers too. If you're going to go for them make sure the scales are original to the blades.
    Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

    They are. That's why thy stood out to me. The C-MON on the side is hard to forget. They are the black ones with the decoration on the end of the scales and the C-MON on the side. I will try to go by there later this week. Thanks for all the input guys. -->Tod

    A thought just occured to me that just popped in my brain

    They are now making new production C-MON razors, some say these are just re-branded DOVO's but I haven't had one in my hands yet to form an opinion....
