What about something not so preciuos (like Tamarind or Mammoth Ivory), but really fancy, ultra-awesome like... oversize Acrylic pen-blanks:

Not yet, but just go with me here!

I was going to suggest contacting the guy who did this:

I was thinking he could come up with a design for both you and the razor. I figured the whole kabuki motif would work for both of you.

How about Stag. I know a guy that makes stag scales and a light coat would be neat and many others seem to like blond horn which I also think would like great as well. I have also seen some pistaccio wood on ebay that might look really cool if you have the desire for wood scales, but I imagine there would have to be some process to harden or make the would stable.

Their plain and plastic and they're bothering me.

Or maybe the scale addiction disorder is setting in...

Either case... I was originally thinking faux tortoise shell. But then I got two razors with great faux tortoise and now my faux tortoise shell desire has faded. Then I started thinking paua/abalone. But that seemed a little ostentatious for this razor. And expensive. And now I'm out of ideas.

Oh, ok. It wasn't just me then!

They really do. Even linen micarta would probably make the razor look a lot classier.

I think I'm going to go with tiger maple or tamarind. Depending on how expensive the quote is.

I have this large elk horn in perfect condition I found while hiking in New Mexico. I have been toying with the idea of bartering the horn as partial payment for a restore (using the Horn). I haven't found the right razor yet.

I wonder if any of the restorers around here would go for that kind of deal.
