A group buy would be frikkin sweet! You know most of the regs here would buy one, whether they could afford it or not (or could explain it to their SWMBO)

I mean, just by nature of trying to replicate the logo razor it would have a few specs naturally inherent to the design....obviously barber's notch, humpback, hollow ground, skinny shank (hopefully not too skinny to hold) and big old frikkin tang.....

It's tough to tell the scale of the drawing, but looks like it'd be about 6/8 and maybe 3 1/2" long?? brass pins?

The only real questions would be what materials to use for the blade and scales....no problem, right?! heh

To get the scales to be that solid aqua blue color, you'd have to use some kind of synthetic plastic/composite/celluloid type material, right? Preferably one that would be easy to inlay a logo onto, or better yet, something that could be manufactured in short run for relatively little $$$.....the logo looks to match the blade, so it would prolly be inlaid with silver or steel...silver is generally preferred as an inlay material

Now the blade material would be a little more complicated. Are there companies that sell JUST blades? Decent quality blades? Depending on how many options there are, this would probably narrow down the choices available pretty quick.

Hmmm....I'm just a n00b so I could be way off base, but it sounds like nailing down the specs wouldn't be all that hard (assuming everyone can agree we are actually trying to recreate the razor in the logo, and not some tricked out customized version that doesn't resemble it at all....heh)

Guys, when I created the razor in the SRP logo, I had a plan to release the real deal as an official SRP razor for members to purchase. So if you guys can wait, I do still plan on actually creating these blades and selling them under my custom brand.. along with other blades and products (but of course if anyone in the meantime wishes to create a razor based on the logo, then thats just great - and I'm quite flattered, frankly.)

(great analysis jdurango, you've pretty much described it as it is - nicely done..)

    Default Nice idea

I'm in ... I don't care what size blade, I don't care what scale material ... I'll buy one. (Oh wait, they don't exist yet) Anyway, great idea!

Build a better mousetrap and the world will beat a path to your door the way I heard it. Get to work on a prototype and the Paypal account will be filled up with deposits for orders in no time.

Actually that blade is kind of similar to the TI Pierre Thiers Limited Edition.

Organizing a group buy for a razor is a tough proposition. The best way to do it is just set the specs and contract with a maker. If you start with opinions from members you'll be hashing it out for months and never get a consensus.

If your serious just make sure you run it by a mod or super mod if its going to be an official SRP razor.

Did you buy that one? I just canceled my snipe on it as part of my pledged of no sniping for 48 hours.

back on topic...I like the idea of a group buy. Might I suggest contacting Revisor. Right now they are a newish company trying to re-establish their reputation. This could be an opportunity for them to get some publicity in the straight shaving community.

If needed, I just got one NOS and one newly forged Revisor that haven't been honed. I could send them to an agreed upon expert for honing and testing. (the pics are posted in my Mr Postman thread under Show and Tell).

Good job on the design....again, very cool looking razor, and pretty unique too...more of a modern take on a classic design. I'm glad to hear that this razor will actually be a reality! I'll definately pick one up when they become available! Great job! Keep on rockin brother!
