    Glen, I wonder, have you ever tried naval jelly? doesn't that work wonders removing finish from metal?

    If, by "black staining", you mean "patina"; then potato juice is just one way to do it on purpose. Many knife users apply one on purpose, for looks and/or rust protection. Vinegar, potato, apple, mustard paste, lemon, and onion juice will also do it. I just made a post about it 2 days ago on B&B.

    Basically the same as above with this additional paragraph (regarding "Vinegar bluing removal"):
    • I don't know any good way to remove it. CLR will remove it sometimes; but I suspect that CLR will remove the goldwash.

    Ive used Naval Jelly, on one really rusty razor...it did work, but didnt meet my expectations. It still required alot of elbow-grease, but it did prevent the need for sandpaper...dont know if that is helpful.

    Default end of the test 9 DAYS

    this is all pictures. i did clean up the rust very easy but patina stays in the blade. need to be sanded.
