Gold Bolsters?
Ran across this listing on ebay and the seller claims it has 18K gold bolsters and inlay.I'm really skeptical.Anyone ever heard of this?

I am sure it is 18K gold.....plate, and is somewhere between 0.5-2.5 microns in thickness! Not much gold, in other words. SRD razors rock, BTW.

True... you never know what's out there, but it's more likely that the inlay simply states 18K and I believe refers to the remnants of the gold wash on the tang. But the material for the bolsters and the inlay is brass (looks very much like gold when polished).

He says 2-3 grams of gold. he's really dreaming. The caps aren't gold at all unless its the worst photography in the world. Even if they were 2-3 grams is quite a lot of gold and caps are really thin like foil so...

Thanked: 13245Now I hate to say for sure on anything when it comes to vintage straights... but I do know that the name is "18k", just like SRD made the "Gold Bug" razor, they made the "18k", it is just a name... Now I doubt those are gold, but who the heck knows "for sure" maybe that one razor was a special one LOL
