Utopian's Honing Service
By now, pretty much everyone must be familiar with Utopian's free honing offer. I sent him two razors, one Wade & Butcher and one Torrey. The Torrey was in pretty good shape but very dull. The W&B was pretty rough and had a couple of nicks in the edge. Both blades came back looking almost brand new. I shaved with the W&B yesterday and the Torrey today. I have to say, both blades are impeccable! I would recommend his work to anyone. Utopian is making this offer to develop his reputation as a honemeister. If I'm just not looking in the right places, I apologize but I haven't seen a lot of feedback and I feel he certainly deserves it. So come on guys. If you've been satisfied with his work, give him credit. Thanks, Ray for the great service!

Ive posted on a couple just mentioning how good of a job he does, but this, i think is a way better way to spread the good work of Utopians service and skill. Hes sharpened my dads dovo and he says it shaves great, I am still waiting to get my Elixio back so i can enjoy a well honed blade. Mas props to Utopian!

Thanked: 171I've not used his services myself but I sure am thankful that he's helping the community. I figured his work was top notch, but it's nice to hear it publicly. Thanks for sharing

Thanked: 3795Ha!
No, for quite a while now, my Chinese hones have been relegated to the experimental pile.

Thanked: 522UTOPIAN HONE SERVICE
I have posted at least once before this but I will gladly post again. Utopian honed a W&B and a Columbia for me very recently. Great job and he's no flash in the pan. He's the real deal so give him a try.
I can hone a dead straight blade but I needed his help on my smiling blades. I can't hone a smiling blade to save my whatchamacallit.
Utopian is in Iowa which is pretty much dead center of the country. Very short shipping time to anywhere. I'm wondering if he has tried that Cerium Oxide I sent.
If you have a problem razor, give him a try......... JERRYJERRY
OOOPS! Pass the styptic please.

Thanked: 3795Jerry graciously sent me some cerium oxide and rottenstone for me to try. While I very much appreciate the gesture, I have not yet done anything but look at the baggies he sent me. I look forward to experimenting with it when I get the time and the extra strop!
Also, I'd like to thank those of you who have publicly complemented my honing. I appreciate those of you who have entrusted me with your razors while I try to get a better handle on how to hone a razor. Lynn said he honed about a thousand razors before he started charging so I guess I'd better keep this free honing going for at least another week or two!

I'll say it again here:
Ron is AWESOME. He tightened my pins, smoothed an uneven bevel, and got my razor shaving like gold... do not hesitate to let him work on your razor!
