Advice on a Tally Ho
So I'm now getting into the range where I don't NEED razors, but am starting to hand pick them... (Still RAD, but instead of 4 $10 razors, one $40... LOL)
I found a Tally Ho that is just barely in my price range. however, if I buy it I'm done for the month and that means no Karasu hone, no Shaptons, etc. But I'm okay with that, because a Karasu would mean no razors, no Shaptons, etc etc.
Anyway, I digress. Anyone here think it's worth it? How are they as shavers? I'm about to get a Jo Rodgers (I think it was a Rogers...) back from Utopian and I'll see how I like wedges and Sheffield steel. I will leave my final decision till after that because there's no point buying it if I don't like the shaves. Anyone with definite Nays or Yeas? Just some info, its a CT Bingham, the maker after Fenney, but before Wostenholm bought the TM, so its definitely between 1852 and 1862- Fenney died in 1852 and Wosty bought them out in 1862 so. Its about an 8/8, maybe a tad more at the widest point. And the scales aren't in great condition but that doesn't bug me. Thoughts on the blade?Last edited by khaos; 07-09-2009 at 04:23 PM.

IMO it ought to be great. If you don't go for it let me know where it is.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 335Buy it; you can always sell it for what you have in it, or more, if the purchase price was at all reasonable. Considering all the figurative blood in the imaginary waters from the surge of interest in straight razor shaving, there will be plenty of virtual sharks to snap at the opportunity to buy the razor.
good shopping, good shaving,

Sorry guys I seem to have mislead you, I said $40 purely for the 4 razors vs one really nice razor analogy. It'll run about $70ish maybe more maybe less can't remember now. Sorry for the bad pic. For all you guys waiting... I'm holding off til I get a wedgy grind back from Utopian, and I'll see what I think then. I kind of have to get it now though, just for the look what I have factor.../display factor.

Will this qualify as a meat chopper?

Here are some more pics. The scales are worm chewed. Is this an issue? Also, how does the bevel look? The bevel itself doesn't look pitted, nor does the stel around it, but it is black. Will this be an issue?
