What do I want?
OK, so my birthday's coming up, and the missus said I get to treat myself to something special...so I chose a razor. (There's a joke there somewhere...).
But....I can't find the ONE razor. I haven't seen one (for sale, at least) that really goes "DING" for me...so maybe you guys can help with some advice.
Here's what I like:
No shoulders.
Point: Barber's notch, Spanish Point, or French.
6/8 and up (bigger is better).
Grind: anywhere from I to VIII on the Henckel's Scale...
American, Swedish or Japanese steel...
Unique is good. I would take a unique Sheffield or Solingen blade as well, but they're just so darned *sniff* COMMON.
Any ideas?
Pics would be awesome...

Le Grelot from Rasurpur would fit the bill but I am not sure what steel it is made of. A vintage Swedish razor might fit the bill

How about this one (it is 13/16)? I almost bought it myself, but went for a french point instead. There are a bunch of spanish point Wackers at this site.

I was looking at this TI on Rasage Poulin...it is sadly out of stock, though.
My budget is...decent but limited. I could do a custom, I suppose, but I like the historical elements of the vintage ones. Hmmm...
That is a nice looking Wacker. Are there any other Wacker vendors?

Take a look at this assortment here in the classifieds.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 735Another vote for the LeGrelot 1/4 grind. Just get the plastic scales, they are surprisingly nice for what they are, and the blade itself is truly very nice, especially if you are a fan of beefy blades.

Thanked: 953and the le grelot is swedish steel by the way. i have one with the plain black plastic scales and it's a really nice razor.
I just got a plain scales 13/16s roundpoint weltmeister from Crowley at shavingshop.com (about $150) and it's really really nice - although it' doesn't meet your specs. hollow but not full hollow. that's solingen but there's a limited number and it's a nice nice razor. And I really like that size (between 6/8 and 7/8).
