I personally don't use the razors I have that have the gold leaf.
The gold is just to fragile and i don't want to worry about it wearing off.

It boils down to personal preference really if you want to use it in a rotation
the gold will eventually wear off or have it as a display piece in which case the gold will last quite a while or use it on special occasions and have it wear of slowly.

"once it's gone you no longer have to worry about it"

You mention you got it a couple of weeks ago, how often do you use it? and are you cleaning it with an abrasive cleaner/cloth?
