Default WR Case & Sons, Bradford PA

I picked up an old razor recently. I'd never heard of the brand, but it turns out they're still in business:

W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company Handcrafted Knives

It looks MUCH nicer in person. The scales are in bad shape, but the blade is great. The tang is covered in mother of pearl. And the blade/spine has a beautiful shape to it. Best yet, it took a great edge when I honed it.

Anyone seen one of these before??

Case is a well known name is knives and straight razors and is highly sought after by some. You made an excellent score! Not surprised it took a great edge. If you look in the WIKI database and search SRP you will find others made by Case, one of which is the Red Imp. Enjoy your new razor and excellent score.

W.R. Case & Sons is one of the most respected and collectible makers of pocket knives and razors that ever was or probably will be. Matter of fact there was a whole family of makers that branched off from the Case brothers by blood or by marriage. Quite a story really. You got a nice razor there.

Thanks for the info. I could tell it was a very high quality blade, but I'd never heard of Case before I googled it and found their website. Very cool to have all that history.

You did get a nice one and the mother of pearl is hard to find so you did very well.

Very nice! The blade profile looks perfect for a heavy beard; I like the way the spine is shaped. Beautiful MOP tang, too. Great score.

It gives a great shave. I can tell it was well-loved by its previous owners. (Well, except for the last one who left it in a drawer for decades...)

Notable hone wear, but quite even. And the edge was smooth and dead straight from heel to toe. So I didn't have to spend time reshaping it. Just set a new bevel and honed it up in no time.

It looks much nicer in real life. I'll try to get some better pictures.
