Thanked: 6Razors age
When I was searching for more information about a razor I came across this site http://archivingindustry.com/cutlers&toolmakers/razormakers.htm . I was wondering if anyone of you guys knew this site? I think it might make it easier to guess a razors age. But I don’t know how accurate the site is but I wanted to share I with the rest.
The razor that I was trying to date was this one. It came to me all covered in rust so I sanded and buffed the blade. There is still some pitting left but I didn´t wanted to remove to much metal. Some scratches near the back which I think where created during the manufacturing of the blade, or somebody who didn´t knew what he was doing.
It says on the blade
T.F.BASTET
COUTELIER DU ROI
SHEFFIELD & AMSTERDAM
The same thing was written on the tang.
I know now that Coultelier Du Roi is the store where the razor was probably sold.1
And T.F. Bastet is a firm whom produces surgical tools and knives from 1876 to 1931. 2
There is one thing I´m sure of, it’s a great shaver, very stiff grind so very well suited for the chin area.

Someone on this forum has a book, I believe. Some of those old Sheffields go back to the mid 1800's. Yours looks quite old to me...it looks like you answered your own question, somewhere between 1876 and 1931...I don't know that you'll be able to pinpoint it. Although, I'm curious now myself. I will check back....
