    Gentlemen,

The Thiers-Issard Sheffield Silver Steel, Black Horn Tip, 5/8 razor, at Classic Shaving, has been winking at me for a while. I am thinking of winking back. Does anyone own this same model? Your thoughts, please. Thanks.

    Regards,

    Obie

I have that razor and it is a super shaver. I had to sweat to hone it , but when it got dialed in....it is pretty sweet. I think you will enjoy it immediately as I see it comes presharpened.

    Mike,

Bless your heart for your opinion on the razor. You have convinced me. I think I will wink back at the razor.

    Regards,

Well, you didn't take much convincing.

    Gentlemen,

Indeed, some do fall easier than others. I know I do when it comes to my many passions.

I think we're all a bunch of shaving neurotics. Then again, it's the only way to be about one's passion, would you not say? Imagine, there are lost souls out there who attack their faces daily with a heartless plastic guillotine and a vile foamy substance spewing from an aerosol can and calling it shaving. Where is the passion in that?

I will take a walk in the woods any time over a drive in the rush hour traffic.

Thank you, gentlemen, for your thoughts. You are indeed wise.

    Regards,

    Obie

    "when I fall in love,
    it will be a razor..."
It's always been funny to me how we ask others to help us make decisions. I know personally I do it to eschew responsibility for spending the money, "they made me do it" kind of thing. But eventually I let myself make mistake purchases enough times that I think I'm starting to learn a thing or two about these beautiful tools...

    Bassguy,

Thanks for the poetry. I know what you mean about making decisions on some things. With gorgeous straight razors I have a tendency to go nuts.

By the way, I assume you are the bass player in the jazz trio mentioned on your post. Among many things, I spent lots of years as a jazz and classical deejay, in addition to other sins, and can't count the times I played recordings by Oscar Pettiford, Ray Brown, Richard Davis and the other good bass guys.

    Regards,

    Obie

I have the 6/8s version of that razor and as a matter of fact it was the first razor I bought. Its a great all around shaver.

Indeed I am! Message me and I'll send you a copy of our live recording. I'm very proud of it. That goes for everyone here, by the way.

What are the 4 most spoken words in jazz? "Ray Brown on bass."
