Bresnick "Original SUPREJ"
Picked this one up for a real steal IMO. Almost no hone wear. Maybe one honing. Bresnick Original SUPREJ. That is exactly what the tang says, on one side C.S. Bresnick, Solingen-Germany, and on the other Original (in cursive) SUPREJ (in block capitals). Anyone know anything? The tang is hammered, and I think blued, because there's no way it tarnished that much without the blade tarnishing. HOWEVER... the top of the tang is not blued at all so it makes me wonder... Votes on clean it off or leave it?
Once again, sorry but the only camera I have in the house is my laptop webcam, and scanning doesn't workout so well.Last edited by khaos; 08-07-2009 at 01:19 AM.

The pins SEEM original, but the wedge seems to protrude. I don't know if this was quality control, a poor repin, or intentional (it seems uniformly too large...)

That's what I was thinking. But the top isn't blued so its kinda outta whack. Oh well. I really like this one- it was one that I set a high max for but no one else bid. So i got lucky.

I love all tang stuff... bluing, gold, hammering, titanium, but in some cases I'd rather it be uniform. Goldwash is the exception, but bad bluing I will take off. This is not BAD bluing, just a little weird so I asked for opinions. The scales are warped loose and a bad wedge so.... I think I may want to rescale it. But because this is the oldest cousin/version/make of the Dubl Duck series I kinda wanna find a way to keep everything, including pins, original.

Great find!, chances are the wedge isn't poor quality or a repin if the wedge protudes uniformly the scales have most likely shrunk. Also I agree with the rest of the replies. I vote to leave the bluing alone.

I've got a Bresnick Twin Duck "Hand Forged" with a blued and hammered tang and the spine is not blued. Nice piece you have there. Should make an outstanding shaver once honed up.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
