Not Bad For Less Than A Sawbuck?
Well, the first of my auctions this month is done, and I came away with this one, my first DOVO. (Now to get the big daddy...the wife seems unresisting, so I might just be in.)
It looks like it might have a bit of a Frown, or that could be the pic, but I like the spine and I've heard good things about the Fritz Brachts. And the scales are sweeeet.
What do you guys think? Worth a half tank of gas?

Definitely worth it. I'm sure you can turn that little frown upside down in no time!
That's a nice looking razor, most modern Dovos seem to be round or french points, so the square point stands out, beautiful spine work, and of course, cracked ice scales . . . mmmmmm cracked ice (where is that drooling smiley?).

I've got a few Fritz Bracht Dovos and they have all been real good. I would say you made out like a bandit.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanks guys. This is the first time I've actually WON an auction...up to now it's all been BIN. It went lower than I was expecting, to be honest. These Japanese sites are weird. If that had said "Henckels" it would have gone for at least twice as much, probably closer to three times. As it was, only one other guy bid on this one...

The two Fritz Bracht razors I have owned were very excellent shavers. Yours should hone up to that standard, I think. The unevenly honed area looks to me like what a high spot on the hone might do. You will have it right in no time, and enjoy a great razor! The scales are fantastic and the filework on the spine is great too.

Nice razor Jim. I wasn't aware that so many people understood carnie speak, or at least thats what my father called it. Not a single person as of yet has asked what a sawbuck is.
Lets see if I remember as it has been awhile:
single = 1 dollar bill
fin = 5 dollar bill
sawbuck = 10 dollar bill
double sawbuck = 20 dollar bill
half yard = 50 dollar bill
yard = 100 dollar bill
I think that's right.
there were some odd carnie speak words I used to know also but don't remember them.
