    single = 1 dollar bill
    fin = 5 dollar bill
    sawbuck = 10 dollar bill
    double sawbuck = 20 dollar bill
    half yard = 50 dollar bill
    yard = 100 dollar bill

    I think that's right.
    there were some odd carnie speak words I used to know also but don't remember them.
    Ahhhh, see, I was taught that a ten was a spot and a sawbuck was a twenty...but I have no idea why my dad would know carny-speak. I just thought it was "rural American", that rarest of tongues, where a tomato becomes a mater, and no one bats an eyelid at the triple negative (a la "He ain't never done nothing").

    This razor was $17, so less than a double sawbuck apparently.

    Cooder: The main thing is to bring in the rubes.

    Spud: Do whatever it takes. Sweet talk, insults, slang from the '30s that no one uses anymore.

    Bart: Like "rubes"?

    Spud: Now you're on the trolley

    Good purchase, Jim. I like it when a guy who actually shaves with them gets one of the pretty, high-end shavers. It's kinda sad when you see a huge trophy case with hundreds of beautiful razors lined up in rows like the girls in the Rockettes, looking real good, but those razors are never gonna get touched again.

    Thanks Gary. I do have a display case, but the boys in there do get to come out and play sometimes. And this one is definitely getting used...it should be here tomorrow or Saturday....

    I think it'll get to meet my new Chinese water hone!

    Well, it showed up, and it turns out there's no frown at all. It is a bit narrower at the toe than the heel, but it should come out fine. There's some rust but nothing too terrible. Looking at what I have here, I can tell that this one used to really be something else...the spine work has some remnants of gold wash in the pits, and the scales were lovely.

    Hello Jim
    Only six more and you will have your seven day set. Could you imagine seven of those spines lined up greeting you in your shaving den? Very nice piece.
