Is boiling the blade a necessary precaution?

If you know it has been used by someone else shaving, I would recommend it as an extra precaution. Plus, you don't know what the edge had been exposed to and considering we know straight shaving gives a very close shave it is an extra precaution.
That is how I do it, but everyone has their comfort zone.
