My carbon steel blades regularly experience 30 minutes of shaving time and, with proper after care, show no signs of deterioration, so my answer would be no. However, SS blades are great too and it sounds like you have a great reason to get another razor. Feed the RAD.

uhm.....
honestly for $175 to keep your mind on the job at hand, it will be worth it even if you have to replace it in 5 years time (not that you would...but just sayin').

Carbon or stainless , it would only take a few seconds to dry the razor... but maybe I've just forgotten how to be spontaneous

Reading between the lines I get the impression Mr and Mrs Clauss occasionally get distracted while shaving her legs and put the razor down for quite some time. In which case a stainless straight would be excellent.

I have used both carbon steel and stainless for shaving my legs. And yes people I can easily take 30 min to shave legs depending on how far up you are going, and how many passes
I have not had any problem with either razor discoloring or rusting. Just rinse it off in hot water and let air dry overnight an you should have no problem with either type.

Carrie.
If I left a razor even seconds more than I have to out without it's own oil bath I have bad dreams.
Leg shaving is lot's different than face shaving. In some ways it is like working on a car, you get in all strange positions with the razor and their is water dripping in the tang. I don't even treat the lowest of my collection like that when I shave. With my face, it is a much neater environment, you know razor sits on a dry face towel during lathers...
much more controled.

I did leave out that I do try with a towel before I let it finish air drying .
I do lay it on a towel or other absorbent cloth in between lathering and shaving. I don't have a problem with water dripping in to the tang unless I am doing my shave while bathing/showering. I prefer to use my straight after I finish bathing/showering so I am not exposing the razor to excessive water contact
