They have a "monopoly" on current MASS production. Several other companies make razors periodically, Boker just started making them again, Henckels is having some produced but this may be under contract I don't know, Giesen & Forsthoff never stopped making them, Robert Klass turns out a batch now and then, and Wacker Rasiermesser makes high quality limited production razors. There are more and more custom makers in play too.

Thanked: 346Yes, the Simmons is made in Solingen Germany. It was pretty common for the solingen manufacturers to make private-label razors for the US hardware stores, barber supply stores, and department stores. Simmons, Shapleigh, dubl duck, Charles Monkhouse, Sears & Roebucks "Black Beauty" and "Craftsman" razors, etc.

My 2 cents - tough beard go with W&B. Dovos look great and shave well but to me are too thin to slice through my beard and hold a good edge for long. The W&Bs seem to hold an edge much longer for me and seem to be more forgiving on those mornings when I'm preoccupied and vulnerable to nicking myself. Now if you can find a half or quarter hollow Dovo that may all even out. All of the Dovos I've had were full hollow ground. In the end it's what you personally like and feel comfortable with though.
