Default What do I have...Estate Sale Find...Help Needed.

    Hey guys,

While waiting for my first two staright razors to get here(just ordered them yesterday) I decided to go and check out an estate sale today and this followed me home...

Can y'all give me the low down on this particular brand and model? Are they any good? I picked her up for $25, and it seems to be in pretty good shape. I sropped it a little and it was hair popping sharp! Any information y'all can provide would be much appreciated.

Sorry for the poor quality pictures.

Dubl Ducks are pretty sought after, and you don't see too many stainless ones. Certainly a steal at $25, especially in that condition. I wouldn't be surprised if you get offers from a bunch of members looking to take her off your hands.

Yeah I love that one... let me know if you wanna trade or sell it

Honestly I have to tell you the truth, (even though I don't want to) it is probably the 2nd or 3rd rarest DD out there...

PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT mess it up... I will hone it for free just don't screw it up...

You did very well. As Holli4 said the DD in stainless is a desirable collectible as well as an outstanding brand for shaving.

I wonder why that particular DD is more rare then the rest of the bunch? Was it made in limited quantities?

    Very nice score Tolly.

WOW! I am pleasantly surprised. I would never have dreamed it to be anything special.

Exactly what is this model called guys? Once again, please excuse the ignorance.

Tolly check out this razor club thread here for Dubl Ducks. They are one of the most highly regarded of the Solingen razors for their honing and shaving qualities.

I will check it out. I must say, I am super excited about this thing. I have a new Hart in O-1 steel coming, but you guys have me more excited about this old razor than the nre one!

Something interesting about this thing...When I got it home i checked it out and it was only so so sharp. I made about 15 passes per side on my strop bat with a very light smear of Hand American's .5 micron green chromium oxide, and then made 15 more passes per on another strop bat with Hand American's .25 micron Diamond Spray, and Presto the thing was shaving. Talk about surprised!

I guess I need to have a DD specialist check it out and super tune it for me.

Thanks again for all the great info!
