Not that a Friodur is a bad razor in any way - they have a nice size, heft, are very smooth shavers, and look great. I just think Livi probably does higher quality work...

I'm sure someone with more knowledge and experience will chime in soon.
The Livi regrinds are smaller. How would that change in comparison?

Another crazy question... Seeing they are regrinds, are they still really a Livi?

Size is really just a matter of personal preference.

Well, they are not Livi forged, but my understanding is that he uses high quality, NOS blanks to regrind. So the workmanship is his, though the steel isn't.

Livi regrinds, Wackers, and Friodors are all great choices. You will not go wrong with any of them. I have all three, actually two Wackers. It all boils down to your personal preference in regards to size and point style. There is no wrong answer to this one.

I have a 72 1/2 Froidur and a 7/8 Wacker. The grinds are different (full hollow on the Friodur and maybe half hollow on the Wacker). I prefer the Wacker because it's smoother - but the Froidur is for sure a nice shaver. But when taking all aspect into account I'd have to say go for the Wacker spanish point with a half hollow or even more weighty grind. To me the Froidur compares closely with the Reynolds I have. Good shaves but the grind (full hollow) is just not as smooth a shave for my beard type.

Are there any Froidur's out there new with a 1/2 hollow or 1/4 hollow? I have looked at shaving shop and cannot tell their grinds. How do I find out?

As far as I know, all Friodur's are just about full hollow grinds.

I want a RW custom but the wait will be impossible I will get one of those anyway (for later) but I want something soon.
I asked someone the other day what they were referring too as a "regrind".
As it was explained to me it is one of Miestro Livi's razors where he has ground a razor blank rather than making a razor by hand. If that is what you guys are calling a "regrind" then all production razors are now "regrinds". Dovo, TI (with the exception of a few 100 yr. old hand forged blanks), Wacker, Revisor, Boker, Henckels, all of them would be called "regrinds". They all purchase razor blanks from a foundry and the grinder does the final grinding of the blank. This has to be a term that someone recently coined.

If you are still looking for a razor to get for your birthday, Obie recently gave the Boker Edelweiss a sterling review. I know it is well under $250, but you have to admit it is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship
