Default Birthday present (Help me choose)

I want to tell my wife what to get me in a month or so for my birthday. I was thinking of a price range of about $250-$300 but I am flexible. I started looking at the hart steel razor because of the price range and oddly enough the looks. But, I may wait a while on those. From what I am reading they might not be ready yet for all my eggs. I have 4 razors now. All of which are cheap by any standard, all used also.

I have looked into wacker's, Livi regrinds,????... I was wondering what would be some other GREAT razors to look into. Give me some ideals and why. Thanks guys

    My list of priorities.

    1. Price range. One day I will drop $600 to $1,000 on a killer heirloom but not yet.
    2. Smooth shaver that will hold an edge.
    3. Looks. I like clean looks that does not get too gaudy.

What else should I be looking for?
I am not infinitely picky as some of the guys on here (yet). i.e. no need to measure the angle of the grind. I will save that for when I have been doing this for a few more years. Thanks for all of your input.

Take a look at shavingshop.com. They have some great blades. Mayby a Wacker or a Friodor?

I personally love my Redpoint, and there is one on the bay right now that looks near mint, classy black scales too, which I find prettier than my cream ones.

LeGrelot 1/4 hollow grind (they are vintage now) if you can get one of those they are awesome shavers.
TI razors are always accepted very well.

makes custom razors, I do not own one, but he has very good prices and you can customize a lot.

Revizor is a respectable brand from Germany.

When you go to the Revisor website, on the main page there are 3 photos. The one on the right shows a huge display of razors behind the counter. Can you imagine what that immediate area would look like if 20 of us showed up at that counter? I dare say we'd be standing there for hours and all drop more money than is probably socially acceptable! Wow! I wonder if that store and display is still there and showing blades that can be had?

The Friodur's are stainless razors by Henkels. I have one in 7/8 with a worked back and a Spanish point. A great looking razor, and a great shaver too.

Those Friodur's do look great! I looked for a review could not find one. How would they compare to a Livi regrind? Also, I read some not so great comments about the Wacker's but they look so good. I think I am lusting over those big spanish points on the Wacker's and Friodur's.

I want a RW custom but the wait will be impossible I will get one of those anyway (for later) but I want something soon.

I don't have any first hand experience with Wackers, but I thought I'd read good things.

I'm not sure how a Friodur stacks up to a Livi (since I don't have a Livi), but I would guess that the Livi's are a step up. Not that a Friodur is a bad razor in any way - they have a nice size, heft, are very smooth shavers, and look great. I just think Livi probably does higher quality work...

I'm sure someone with more knowledge and experience will chime in soon.
