Default Thoughts on this Hope razor?

I've heard of the hope cutlery, would this be one of those razors? Anyone have any experience with them? This one seems to have wood scales?

Beautiful razor, but I think it isn't a Hope Cutlery. They were based in Solingen and their scales are decorated plastic.

I will post a picture of a Hope Cutlery as soon as I have received the one I bought last week.

Thanks Michael, I have seen some that say "Hope Cutlery" but figured maybe this might be an early one or something.

Is that burl wood? Looks nice, but there's like a million no a billion different razors made out of Soligen, 99% have that same style, look and feel, good blades, but boring as **** imho.

Not saying yours is boring just that I wish they would have done some different grinds in Soligen, so many are full hollows.

    J. A. Schidt & Sohne was recorded as an "open razor maker" in Germany in 1829. Here is the Juliswerk makers mark:

The dates 1900-1907 are often cited but may just refer to the Hope Cutlery Co - J. A. Schmidt and Sohne appeared in Solingen directories in 1922 and they may be still around today - the Hope Cutlery Co razor tangs often bear the name of J Albert Schmidt, sometimes not.

J M Schmid & Son were in Providence, Rhode Island, between 1871 and 1964.

    Regards,
    Neil

2Neil Miller, This mark from the germans dagger, made by J.A. Schmidt, period WWII. This company are still in business as Kuno Ritter.
But J.M. Schmid not connect to him and not connect to the Hope Cutlery.
Yes, John M. Schmid & Son was at 259 Westminister St., Providence, Rhode Island.1871 - 1964.
Trademark "Hope" was used by many companies.
