New Wade & Butcher Question
Hello, I just picked up my 2nd razor today at an antique shop. It's a Wade and Butcher.
I've been trying to do some research on the markings. Most of the razors I see say Wade & Butcher Sheffield.
This one just says Wade & Butcher and to the side is a VR and a crown.
The scales are plain black and there are no other marking on scales or blade.
Just wondering if anyone knows where this one fits as far as manufacture date, quality, etc.
Thanks in advance for any replies.
I'll try to get a couple of pictures up if I can get to it.Last edited by Miner123; 10-07-2009 at 01:47 AM.

The stamp indicates that the razor was made during the Reign of Queen Victoria, but I don't know the years offhand. A very nice looking blade, though she's almost certainly been reground (not a negative at all, since the grind looks well done, just something to note).

+1 on Holli.
The lack of the lack of the England stamp and then the Sheffield stamp dates it earlier than the ones stamped as such. Sheffield only stamp is older than the ones that include England and no city country is older yet. Someone will come along and give you the dates. Nice blade!!“If you always do what you always did, you will always get what you always got.” (A. Einstein)

Interesting blade! Such a mark is quite uncommon among W&Bs. The tail recalls to me blades of the very first years of Victorian reign (about 1837-1845). Reground and rescaled.
