Thanked: 1936Junktique Store Haul
With winter coming on and not a lot to do around here after deer season I thought I would like to try my hand at bringing life to a straight razor. I decided to go to a town that has a few so called Antique stores in the town square. Two were open & I ended up walking away with the following razors:
Top right to bottom left
-Boker,
-Ed Wusthof,
-Maher & Grosh,
-George E. Wostenholm & Son,
-James H. Dunne,
-Wade & Butcher (For Barber Use),
-W. Parramore (cast Steel)
Some have broke & cracked scales, but from what I can tell the steel in all are good as far as my limited knowledge goes. I'm looking to restore some and use them, and may sell the others...don't know yet. I definately want to give the two big blades at the bottom a try.
I'd love to hear your comments & what you would do with them. BTW, that haul was for $100.00.

Congrats on a great haul.
You've got some great names in the bunch and all have the potential to be great shavers. Tale your time with the restores and enjoy the journey. Get them honed up and put them back to work!!

Thanked: 1936First haul, I was stoked. I'll clean them all up, give them a trip to the stones, & introduce them to the whiskers. After my first restore, I just enjoy shaving with it a little more than my bought razors. It doesn't give a better shave necessarily, I just get a little more personal satisfaction out of it.

Not bad at all for that price! Those 3 in the lower left of the photo are the one's I'd have jumped on there. But they all look like they'll clean up nicely and give good shaves. Congrats!

Thanked: 1936Those are my personal favorites as well. I'm starting on the James H. Dunne & Co with the smiling edge first. A member here, DPflaumer, is making me a set of walnut scales for it. We worked out a trade on some deer antlers for a few scales, he gets to work on a new material & I get some scales for my new projects...win/win. Once I have the two antler scales, I'll decide here to go from there. The Wade & Butcher (for Barber Use) razor's scales are salvageable, which is good, they are oversized for that big ole blade. I'll probably use them as a template for the bottom razor's new scales.
I'll probably pass some of them on in the classified's once I have them cleaned up & have shaved with them. May not be collectable's, but will be good shavers...Southeastern Oklahoma/Northeastern Texas helper. Please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thanked: 1936Finished up on the James H. Dunne & Co razor & put a temp set of scales on it that I bought off the classifieds that use screws for the pins. WHAT A SHAVER!!! That smiling blade just glided thru the whiskers. This is actually my new favorite blade out of some bigger name razors that I own: Dovo, Boker, Henkels, & Antone Tadross. Only made two full passes, WTG & XTG, and some touchups. The razor ended the shave cutting as well as it started. I was tickled to say the least. I'll post a pic of it once I put it in some permanent scales.
Still several to go...Southeastern Oklahoma/Northeastern Texas helper. Please don't hesitate to contact me.
