I have a Ken Rup strop and it is my favorite out of three, I think its simple and will be great , the kit he sell seems like a very good deal and KR is a mentor on SRP dont know about officialy but he knows he stuff, watch his video on hones and strops in the wiki very good info on technique. Have Fun

I don't have any experience with Ruprazor, but in my personal experience it would be worth the wait if you save a couple of more bucks to get a higher level razor as the ones that are sold in this site (I'm up for the solingens); just verify that it comes shave ready and go for it. I've seen tons of fantastic deals in here, although they came too late for me as I have already 2 blades that got before (1 new, 1 vintage which is my personal favorite). You won't regret it if you get involved with the fantastic material on this site.... it is so good that took me from newbie to hobbyist to almost fanatic.

Hi, and welcome to the brotherhood {The Straight Razor Place}. Good luck on your mission for your first straight razor. You will also need a good strop. You should also read the wiki about getting started, and pre-shave prep work. Well good luck and I wish you the best. STRAIGHT RAZOR 13.

Thanked: 0Thank you all again
Well, I have to say thanks for all the great help, welcomes, and knowledgeable people here.
I did order a razor. I didn't end up getting the Rup, but I did get a Franks Golden Gate (shave ready). I hope it will work out for me. I am not sure about the make that I bought, but if nothing else it was a great price (in my mind), and I am sure it will not be the last razor I will own as I want to try many different styles.
Now I guess I will have to find a good honing stone(s) and learn how to do that as well. Perhaps I should buy a cheap $10 razor to practice honing on though....any thoughts on that? I also should look at some forums for good stones. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it.
Thanks again everyone!
Dennis
