Thanked: 0Total newbie here, need a cheap good razor...and some pointers
Hello, I am totally new here, and have been searching to buy my first inexpensive razor. I am sick of the buying of throw away schick "now with 500 blades in one head" shavers. I want to learn the art of straight razor.
I am sorry if this has been posted a million times, but I couldn't find what I was looking for. I read many posts, and heard about "wapis" and "double arrows" that are supposedly good starters, and cheap, but am unable to find any for sale. If some of you good folk on here can guide a new guy like me to finding a good cheap beginner razor, I would be much obliged.
If you have any links please send em my way, or any advice, I should know I will be all ears.
Thanks a million!
Dennis

You can check the classifieds on this site. You should also read the wiki for beginners.
you could also check out this starter SR and Strop...

I highly recommend the link already posted. It's how I started and Kenrup really hooks you up.

Be careful with Ebay. Most of those razors are not ready to shave with. I can't say enough for Kenrup's starter package. It has everything you need, and it's ready to go as soon as you get it.

Thanked: 17Bad news my friend, cheap and good razor does not exist.
Looks like shaving straight starts to be trendy, pices are going up.Try your local vintage shops , that's your chance to buy decent razor for resonable money.

Im extremley new to all of this as well, and I share your feelings of sick and tired of this disposable stuff. Im ready to step it up to the big leagues of straight razor shaving. I got a J.R. Torrey (I just learned this is an American type of razor and made of steel) off of the classifieds on here for 32.00 - I now have to find somewhere (likely mail it off - and delay my start of the journey) to have it professionaly honed and truly shave ready. I think this optimal 30 degree shaving angle is going to be some fun for me to learn.
Best of luck with it all friend, and perhaps we will cross paths again on this forum.
