Thread: Looking for a Dovo
-
11-12-2009, 07:13 AM #31My first one came with a warped blade which no amount of honing will remedy - that got consigned to the practice pile since TOBS were too stubborn to admit anything was wrong with it and take it back (note: their salesmen are NOT barbers!).
I have just won a Bismarck Registered Antique Straight Razor, made in Solingen germany.Last edited by ursus; 11-12-2009 at 07:28 AM.

The pictures are too poor to evaluate it completely. Looks okay except the wedge is at an angle. You'll see the condition yourself when you get it. Basically, you can decide to keep it (either as shaver, knife or decoration), or sell it forward.
Get it at least professionally honed if you'll decide to shave with it. Whether you want it get it cleaned/polished/restored depends on the condition and how much you are willing to pay for it.
SRD, among other shops and members (check the classifieds), does honing and you could ask them if they also do cleaning/polishing.
Anyway, you have one shave-ready razor coming to you. I hope you best of luck to your first shave with it. While it is in transit, read up on tips for your first shave from the wiki.

Thanked: 0Thanks to all you guys(ursus, stubear and straightrazor13) for the valuable tips.
@Hotpot: Was there any custom clearance you had to pay or was the package delivered to doorstep?
