Ever seen one of these before?
I picked this up in an antique store this past weekend. It was sitting in amongst a bunch of straights. It made me recall the pictures of the 1500-1600's era razors shown in the "Standard Guide To Razors". I bought it because of this and it was cheap.
It has no markings. Blade appears to be some sort of folded or molted steel or iron with iron fittings and pin. I could of course be very wrong about the materials/construction - just my best guess is all.
Fully Opened...
Pin & Bolster...
So have any of you seen one of these before? If so is this one authentic looking?

There have been a bunch of these on the bay lately advertised as old asian razors. Pretty cool I think, but nothing I would spend my limited college budget on.
Very cool find though, I really do like them, at least for the novelty.
EDIT: That one does look pretty legit to me.

If it was sharp, I would give it a go. Why not? I figure I don't have enough straight experience yet for it to throw me off too bad.

Yeah those SMKW jobbies sure look the same or close enough anyway. Also, upon closer inspection of mine it looks to have a bamboo handle....things are fitting together.
I'd shave with it as long as I know it's not something that belongs in a museum, seeing as it would need some grinding to get it "shave ready".

Ah. A new description for ebay: "They show their rust and age but this makes each one more unique".
Hopefully it is usable. If not, it can still be a nice conversation piece.
