i'm starting to guess straight razors are like cars and you can get a great car from a manufacturer or you can get a bad one...my Doble Temple holds it's edge great and it wasn't hard to get there, i also used tape from 1k to 8k then doubled the tape at 16k and 30k! no issues! but i have a ERN that will not hold it's edge and i love the razor none the less!

    Hi,

That's interesting, because both our countries had similar fascist dictatorships in the same period, but we have razors from several countries. In my country I see a tie between the Filarmonicas and the Solingen ones and then the Swedish ones, which the old barbes here use a funny expression - since they can't say "Heljstrand" they call them the "3 crowns", just like instead of saying "Henckels", they say "the twins".

Those were the razors which used my neighborhood barber because...we spanish couldnt afford nothing better!

To make things more sad, Fillys are related to a fascist dictatorship in Spain....otherwise we could buy the German real thing.

Reading this thread, I'm happy that I paid $50 AUD only for my Filarmonica 13. Not NOS but still, in descent condition. Being restored at the moment.

Ok... I finally got a chance to use my Filarmonica 13 DB, and it's really a great razor. I've got nothing to complain about (paid $80 US) for it, though... I personally wouldn't pay a whole lot more than that, but I can understand why someone would. I don't think I can see $150+ for them, but anything less than that and it's worth it. I've got several razors that are as good or better, but this is really a good piece!

What's wrong with the 3 pin fily's from Classic. Aren't they made with the same steel?
No pun intended, but it seems like your spliting hairs now.

Me too BTW, I'm glad I got mine for free and didn't have to pay those high prices...

This Fily thing has gone on too long, you guys need to look at some nice Solingen's, Robert Williams, Livi's, even Chandler if you can get on his list. They all shave just as good. There is absolutely nothing magical about these Filarmonica razors, believe me...
they've been hyped to death. What's really funny is, I've seen them sell for $300.00+ bucks on EBay, but no one paid that. Everyone paid under 100 for there's....Someboday paid 300.00

Well, the Europeans are paying that price too. I know a couple of guys that admit to paying the really high prices, but I'm with you. For $300+ I'm getting something significantly better than this.

Thank you. I can't tell you how many guys say, Oh, but I didn't pay 300 for mine!, Well, someone did according to Ebay. If anyone bought the one's from vintage scent, they definitely paid over 300 for them. I believe they were 250 euros. No question, the Fily's have some nice steel, Great shaver's, but bear in mind, they've never been used either...All that said, why the cheap scales? Anyway, this whole frenzy has gone on long enough...We need to push the Revisor's...

Another severely underrated razor! Shumates are really underrated too. When I was shaving with the Filarmonica, all I could think was that it was as smooth and nice as my Shumate... I got that for a song

BTW, I still like Pumas better too...
