Mastro Livi Regrind
I bought this razor a while ago when SRD was selling the Livi Regrinds or NOS, I guess you could calll them. They were very affordable considering it's a Livi and is a fantastic shaver. I've had this razor for some time and it holds and edge like nobody's business. I've yet to take it to the rocks, I'm not sure how many times I've shaved with it, but I'm really impressed with how well it holds an edge. I'd like to hear from the other owners. I know there weren't many of these for sale, 20 or 24 that I saw. Has anyone else had a similar experience. Even the Custom Livi owner's can chime in, but I'm really interested to hear if any of the other regrinds are amazingly holding and edge and not in need of honing...
P.S. Any razors you have that seem to go forever without needing honing, please share....

Actually, my Friodur, one of the7/8 NOS (sort of), is the same. Seems to go months without needing honing. Just strop and shave. I used it exclusively for about 3 months straight when I had no other razors that were shave ready.
I've never used a Livi. Sorry if this is off topic.

I have a regrind probably for about a year and a half and probably have about thirty shaves on it and I haven't touched it up yet.

Thanked: 137I have a Kraut & Donal 'Regina' - tiny little 4/8 3/4 hollow spike. It gets a lot of work as it's my touch-up shaver of choice due to its small size. I've had it around 7 or so months, and it's still going strong, just a good stropping post-shave and it's back to its best and ready for another round.

Thanked: 735Most of my razors can probably hold out for quite some time.
But I can't!
I always end up screwing around with teh edge to see what a lttle tweak here or there may do......

Zib,
The Livi New Grind is one of my favourite razors
Had just over thirty (30) shaves with it, and the edge has not been re-touched.
Best regards

My sharpest razor that has gone for months without touch up is clearly a Robert Williams.
I have a Livi new grind that looks very similar to yours (rosewood scales?). In my opinion it is the finest balanced razor I own. But, not being able to leave a good enough thing alone, I think it screwed it up with a bad strop job. It became a harsh shaver.
Last night I worked the Livi through a slurry progression (unicot) on my BBW/Coti combi and finished on the Escher (whether it needed it or not, I love the feel of that stone). I used the razor this morning and now I am totally impressed with the edge. It's now a fave, great combo of balance and sharpness. I don't think the edge will need a touch up for a while!
