Is it possible to buy a brand new razor in this day and age for under a hundred dollars that is quality? I would love to have one for Christmas but due to our circumstances we are on a limited budget.I know it is asking a lot but that is all the money I have. Mack

I'm almost sure I've seen the low end Dovo's for under your limit. Look on line. They shave just as good or better than some of my High dollar razors.

From what I've seen here, for new razors there are three "good" options available.

    TI's which are over $100.

Dovo's which can be had under or over $100 depending on model.

Gold Dollars which can be had $10 stock (but will likely need work to be a good razor) or ~$40ish dollars from someone that fixes them up.

I've never been in the market for a new razor, but these are the options I've seen mentioned.

I would go with the Dovo's, personally. I've gotten to play with some of their new blades, and the quality seems good and consistant, though I stress that I've not seen many. The DA's are far less expensive but, in this regard, I think you get what you pay for. I would also second buying from SRD - you'll get free honing so long as you own the blade and they pricematch.

Its up to you whether you go brand new or not, but for that cash I would get a "shave ready" razor from the classifieds here (maybe 2 for that money if you dont want a "popular" brand).

If you absolutely must have brand new, then as others have said, Dovo make some reasonable blades in that price range.

    Gentlemen,

I must second the views on the Straight Razor Design's no-frill Dovos. You cannot beat the price for the quality razor you get.

Also, the razor is honed by the noble Lynn Abrams. What more need be said?

    Regards,

    Obie
