It's a straight razor , not a knife . Don't try to use it as a knife or you will break it , for sure . I can't tell you anything about the company , but I can tell you that you have an excellent razor , and I'm sure I'm not the only one drooling a little bit . Although the scales are plain , the blade etch advertising tobacco , the notch point , and the swayback spine make the razor desirable to both collectors , and shavers . Some Flitz or Maas metal polish , and some elbow grease will be all that's needed to bring the shine back to the blade , and scales . If you want to shave with it , you will need a little edge restoration and a professional honing , by someone who shaves with a straight razor . Nice catch !
