Voted carbon because that's how it is but should say that most of my blades are carbon. The one stainless that I have is one of my favourites too.

I've just voted carbon, which may be unfair, as my favourite's been a Friodur for over a year. You know how it is when you get a new blade though! Current favourite's my Harner blank in carbon.

I voted both though I prefer carbon... I've got some real good stainless shavers too.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I bought a NOS friodur a while back and just love to look at it. It is a 4/8 never been sharpened. I find it very attractive and just can't bring myself to hone it yet. It is the only stainless I own therefor I voted carbon, and none of my razors beat my Silver Steel Wackers.

Just based upon the ratio of carbon to stainless blades in my collection I voted carbon.
But, I dearly love my two Weltmeister stainless blades.

Thanked: 335RAD bad
This is a very difficult question to answer - impossible probably. For those of us who seem to acquire razors, each new one has the potential to become a favorite regardless of how passing that fancy may be.
Today my favorite was a horn hafted 6/8 TI from Lehman's in Ohio. I got it a couple or so years ago, tuned up the edge a bit, and it shaves really nicely - and did so this morning. Probably my go to razor right now would have to be a 7/8 Friodur I got from John crowley. Before that it was Le Grelot from Martin @ RasurPur. A little stainmore. A little stainless. Before that... After that...
I certainly don't need all the razors I have, so what did I do? I gave myself a new one for Christmas. We'll soon see how that one comports itself; it does have some serious competition.
So how did I vote? I didn't -- too fickle. Maybe there weren't enough options?

Thanked: 293I'm not crazy about stainless blades. Maybe it's in my head, but a big and driving factor for me when it comes to blades is, "When am I going to have to hone this thing again?".
Invariably, the stainless blades lose their edge more quickly. I have the same problem with Sheffield steel.
Now I shave exclusively with carbon steel from Spain, Germany, France, or the US of A.
Let's see, it only took me 10 months to find out what I really like.....
