    I have seen this a few times before on vintage razors. I believe it was done purely for marketing. Similarly some Joseph Rodgers and Wade and Butchers say 'Improved Silver Steel,' and some say 'Celebrated Fine India Steel.' There are many similar statements on razors which I think were all marketing tools.

    +1 That is what I believe as well. Pattern welded steel as on the high end customs and factory razors we see today is a different thing.
    Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
