Basic $80 Dovo From SRD?
My dear Salazch,
I second BeBerlin's thoughts. There will be time for other razors. For now, the 6/8" Best Quality Dovo is a good option. It is indeed a quality razor at a good price. Also, it will come honed by Lynn.
Also, I suggest calling Lynn directly at SRD and seeking his advice as well. The noble Lynn will put you on the right path. Good luck, and welcome to the world of gentlemen shavers. I assure you, sir, you will not regret it.
I suggest, however, to have patience and take your time.
Regards,
Obie

As newbie I have a $80.00 DOVO and a Bismark both 6/8 both honed by Lynn. The $80.00 Dovo shaves very well I use it more then the Bismark. If you get either one as long as its honed by Lynn you can't go wrong. It will be shave ready no questions about it. But do buy a strop and go easy with
it, thats where I still have a lot of learning to do.

Salazch,
I have a warm place in my heart for the Dovo Best razors
It was the first razor I bought when I got back into straight shaving, and it remains one of my favourite blades. They are so easy to maintain & touch up, and shave very well.
They are a great razor to learn on, and being well priced, are also a good razor to make mistakes on !
Mine has had all the usual stropping mistakes, had its edge bent on the sink, was the razor I learnt the basics ( and mistakes !!) of honing on etc, and has come through it all.
A good choice
Best of luck !
have fun !
regards
Russ

My dear Salazch,
Lynn helped me a great deal at the beginning. The man knows his stuff. He is also kind and generous. You cannot go wrong with Lynn's advice. Good luck.

Thanked: 335Dovo yes or Dovo no, I'm still intrigued by how one might attempt to pronounce salazch.

Get the Tortoise Shell one. Apparently it is one of their best carbon steel blades so.

I like my Dovo Best Quality - but if you have the $$ why not get something nicer?
As for the strop, you'll definitely need one. You might even consider the Filly from RupRazor. You'll probably nick the first strop as you learn and the Filly is cheap enough you won't have to worry about it.
