Default basic $80 Dovo from SRD?

I was looking at razors on srd.com and saw the basic $80 dovo. Anything would be better than the disposable straight I use. But would it be better to go with a higher end dovo, or is this one good? I just want a good stra8 experience.

That will work fine. If you do not have a strop, i would look at their sets.

I think thats a great starting point for you man. Dovo is a nice name and getting it from srd will ensure its been honed to perfection. But let me ask you, have you looked on the classifieds yet? My first blade was 40 dollars from a member name hi bud gl, and i still go back to it again and again

+1 and maybe upgrade the strop to the 3" premium 1 if you want a bit of luxury.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

My first razor was the Dovo Best Quality blonde 5/8. It is a good razor, but when I upgraded to the Dovo Bismarck 6/8, the difference was unbelievable. The Bismarck gives a much better shave imo.

Well, I have shaved with the Best Quality, and own a Bismarck. The Bismarck has more flex, and comparing a 5/8 to a 6/8 is a bit like comparing apples and oranges. If I were on a budget, I would get the 6/8 Best Quality with the 3" strop, and some high quality cream. That should get you going.

    salazch,

How do pronounce that, by the way?

I'm breaking new ground here as I believe this may be only the second time I've agreed with BeBerlin, but his is sound advice. I have a similar razor, the 6/8 Special which is a bit more expensive, but it's one I'll never get rid of.
